Spaghetti, or Linguini with clams is a classic dish with many variations. There is always pasta, clams (vongole, usually referenced as vongole veraci) garlic, parsely and olive oil. Usually there is white wine. Sometimes there are red pepper flakes. The sauce can have tomatoes, Spaghetti alle Vongole con Pomodorini or Spaghetti alle Vongole in Rosso. The classic, a style you’ll encounter most on Italian menus is Spaghetti con le Vongole in Bianco, meaning white.
The pasta can be spaghetti, Vermicelli, or linguini.
The dish is a popular as a part of the Christmas Eve dinner in Italy, especially in Naples.
